I just wanted to thank all the parents for coming out and supporting your student-athlete on the field. When it comes to the possible correlation between academics and athletics many researchers will back the benefits of our youth playing on a sports team. An article written by Anita L. DeFrantz quotes the following,
- As a report commissioned by the LA84 Foundation and written by Douglas Hartmann of the University of Minnesota found, the "research has time and again demonstrated a strong and positive correlation between high school sports participation and academic achievement. This basic, baseline finding holds for a wide variety of measures and on a whole range of data sets, methodological approaches, and social conditions."
She also states that the more variables that happen within our children's lives the more organization they need. REGARDLESS, I just want to thank you all for your support as well as encouragement for your student to participate in ASAs (After School Activities) a #SISRocks!
A colleague of mine, @NathanLil1 passed this article onto me as well. Again it emphasises the importance of sport and its continued positive influence on students and academic gain. Please enjoy a read of this article as well.
Boys, here are some great shot of your tournament credited to the very talented Chloe Harmon, 6th Grade Yearbook Photographer. Thanks Chloe, we appreciate you bearing the heat and taking some photos for us!
